Food in God's House

4 February 2019

Dear Phyllis,

Gomen nasai (I'm sorry), my heart is on fire and I can't wait for Sunday. It is the joy of my life when I can sit down with my computer each Sunday and share with you some of the events and treasures that Jesus has recently shown me, But there is so much now that there aren't enough Sundays in a week to write all that is in my heart. You can hit the delete key and put this in the trash, but I can't wait until Sunday to try to share what I have just seen.

There is a room in the Lord's house that few have ever been in. There is a special key for that room and without that key anything in there would be utter nonsense. The Lord has been extremely gracious in allowing me to peek inside and what I have seen is dazzling. There is a table loaded with the most oishi (delicious) food imaginable. There is wine on that table like we don't have on this planet. I mean to tell you it is good. I heard the Lord say, “Eat, o friends; drink, yea drink abundantly” (S of S 5:1). I did. Man howdy, it is good.

There is a curator for that room. His name is Samuel Rutherford, but he speaks a strange language, and unless you have the key to that room what he says is unintelligibly. I know his language and he has told me things that incomprehensible. He talks about things that sound almost blasphemous but what he says is true. What he is talking about is relationships that are hard for us to understand. The Father and the Son live in that room. I heard Jesus say, “O righteous Father, the world has not known Thee, but I have known Thee, and these have known that Thou hast sent Me” (Jn. 17:25). What music that was to my ears. Just having a glimpse of the relationship of the Father and Son gave me a small appreciation of what Jesus intends that we all will enjoy someday. Right now just to know that the Father has sent His Son is about as far as we can get.

I have written on this subject before. There are several relationships or views we have of God. All of them are quite different. The most basic is God as Creator. Only the most willfully blind, hard-hearted, would attempt to deny that. There is the Law Giver and Judge. That is certainly true but that makes the others so breath-taking. There is the Lord, the Savior, the Provider, the Guide, the Friend, and half a dozen more. Jesus told us when we speak to God we should say, “our Father”. Of that is wonderful. But that is not the top or the main relationship. I have mentioned this on several occasions and it is only with the greatest reluctance that I suggest it again, but the ultimate purpose why the Father has saved us is to be His love-gift to His Son that we might be His Bride. This is the ultimate relationship. That is why the institution of marriage is so important here on earth. It is the Fathers illustration to us of the ultimate relationship He intends to have with us. To desecrate that is one serious affront. But if we can imagine the ultimate perfect husband and wife relationship that gives us a slight picture of what I have seen in this room. This is the main point that Samuel Rutherford talks about. This is what is in that secret room. This is what he experienced and has attempted to share with us. It sounds pretty rank, but when you get in the room and see what is in there it all becomes reality. The fragrance in there is like a candle store with every scented candle burning. The music there are songs that only the elect know. The food in there that is on the table is more than mouth watering just to think about. There are odors that are past out at the door, and man howdy are they good. But we will have to wait for the main event which is the Marriage Supper. If what I have tasted up to now is any indication, I think we will have a pretty good time when we sit at that Table with Jesus.

I know next to nothing about it but Jesus has given us our Table here now. He occasionally joins us at that Table. He has given it to us and it is intended for us, but it is called the Lord's Table. It is tragic that the Lord's Table is so badly misused and poorly understood.

Gomen, Phyllis, but I just got through having a time with Jesus and my heart is so warm that I couldn't wait for Sunday.

Thank you again for the joy of your fellowship,
Your brother in Christ,
